Getting ready to move? Here is a great list you can use.

10 weeks before you move

• Decide on moving your cars
  
• Sort basement loft and garage
• Dispose of things you don't want
• Which items to discard or donate
  
• Consider a garage or flea market sale
• Place ads for items to sell
• Decide what to do with prohibited items
• Decide on a mover

8 weeks before you move

• Get important papers and documents together
• Decide what to do with pets
  

6 weeks before you move

• Call your mover & storage brokers to to schedule your move
  
• Arrange to take time off from work
  

4 weeks before move

• Empty gasoline from mower and gas can, etc.
• Notify list of friends and companies that need change of address
  
• Pack all toys except the favorites to carry
  
• Call schools to transfer records

3 weeks before move

• Decide which clothes to wear on moving day or what to wear when you travel
  
• Dispose of things you don't want
  
• Check with insurance broker if move is covered and bind your new home 

2 weeks before you move

• Have mail forwarded
  
• Have your utilities and cable turned on
• Return all library books
  
• Find a place for your plants
• Arrange for cable TV disconnection
  

1 week before move

• Draw a floor plan and show placement of major items
  
• Cancel newspapers
• Run fuel down in the car you're taking
• Gather flashlight, tool, duct tape, map you'll need on moving day
• Remeber the last time you shop, to cut way back
• Plan simple meals for last week
• Get luggage items for personal travel
• Carry all medicines with you during move
  
• Get any refills and new Rx you might need
• Make sure you have enough cash
• Schedule baby sitter for moving day, preferably at their house

Moving day

• Supervise to make sure labeled boxes are placed in the proper rooms
• Make sure your bed is set up first so you can crash when you get tired
• Open  & set up bathroom so you can easily prepare for the first day in your new home
